Last week, the Veritas Injury Lawyers team traded the courtroom for the canyons and headed to Moab, Utah, for our first-ever firmwide retreat — and the experience was nothing short of transformative.
What began as a few days away from the office quickly became a powerful reminder of who we are, what we stand for, and why we do what we do. Between the breathtaking red rock vistas and the hum of the ATVs, we found space to pause, reflect, and realign around our shared mission: Truth Wins — not just in our cases, but in how we show up for one another.
Exploring Ourselves, Together
One of the central goals of our retreat was self-discovery — to better understand our individual work styles, motivations, and communication preferences. By learning how each of us thinks and operates, we’re better equipped to collaborate effectively, support one another, and deliver world-class results for our clients.
Through structured exercises, open discussions, and a few moments of honest vulnerability, we discovered how much stronger we are as a unified team. It was a vivid illustration of what makes Veritas truly special: we don’t just share a workplace; we share a purpose.
Star Players Only
At Veritas, we embrace a “Star Players Only” philosophy — not as a slogan, but as a way of life. We believe that excellence attracts excellence. Each person on our team brings unique talents, relentless drive, and a deep commitment to the craft of advocacy. Moab reminded us that when every individual performs at their best, the entire team shines brighter.
Wants to Be Here
There’s something powerful about a group of people who genuinely want to be here. Every conversation at the retreat reaffirmed that our firm isn’t just a place to work — it’s a place to belong. From new team members to those who have been with us since the beginning, everyone showed up with enthusiasm, authenticity, and a shared sense of pride in the Veritas mission.
Growth Mindset
Our time in Moab reinforced one of our most important values: the growth mindset. Whether it was navigating rugged terrain on the ATV tour or exploring new ways to collaborate, we embraced the discomfort that comes with growth. We challenged ourselves to think bigger, listen deeper, and continue evolving — as individuals and as a firm.
Drama-Free
Building a drama-free culture doesn’t mean avoiding hard conversations. It means approaching them with respect, honesty, and the intent to find solutions rather than create conflict. That mindset was on full display during our retreat. We tackled tough topics, gave honest feedback, and walked away stronger — all without losing sight of our mutual respect and trust.
Respectfully Lighthearted
Of course, it wasn’t all reflection and strategy. Between the laughter, the off-road adventures, and the inside jokes that will no doubt echo through the office for months, we were reminded of the joy that comes from working with people you genuinely like. Being respectfully lighthearted keeps us grounded, human, and connected — qualities that make our workplace not only productive but genuinely fun.
Looking Ahead
As we return to our clients, cases, and courtroom battles, we carry with us the lessons learned in Moab: that a team built on trust, openness, and shared purpose can accomplish anything.
The future of Veritas Injury Lawyers is bright — not just because of the cases we win, but because of the people who make those wins possible. Here’s to more learning, more growing, and more living our values together.
Truth Wins. Always.
